Dr. Joan Azoury, MD, FACOG

Dr. Joan Azoury completed his Bachelor of Science in Biology at the American University of Beirut (AUB) before earning his medical degree from Lebanese American University (LAU) in Byblos, Lebanon, where he graduated Valedictorian of his medical school class, recognizing his outstanding academic achievement. He subsequently moved to the United States and completed his Obstetrics and Gynecology residency at Inova Fairfax Hospital in Virginia, where he received the CREOG Award for Academic Excellence for four consecutive years, reflecting his consistent commitment to academic achievement, clinical excellence, and professional development.

Following residency, Dr. Azoury practiced Obstetrics and Gynecology with BJC HealthCare in Missouri for four years, serving an underserved patient population while developing broad clinical experience in women’s health. During this time, he became Board Certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG), an important milestone reflecting his rigorous training and commitment to the highest standards of care. He later returned to Fredericksburg, Virginia, where he practiced as an OB/GYN hospitalist while pursuing additional clinical training in fertility and reproductive medicine. This experience further strengthened his interest in infertility care and assisted reproductive technologies and ultimately led him to pursue a career dedicated to helping patients achieve their reproductive goals.

A Legacy of Excellence, Continued Joining Azoury IVF Clinic is, for Dr. Joan Azoury, both a professional journey and a deeply personal one. As the son of Dr. Joseph Azoury, a pioneer in fertility care and the founder of the clinic, Joan initially carried the inevitable identity of being “Dr. Azoury’s son.” But while his family name opened the door, it was his own excellence, discipline, and dedication that defined his path. From graduating Valedictorian at LAU to achieving academic excellence throughout his residency in the United States and becoming American Board Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology, Dr. Joan Azoury has built his own professional identity through achievement.

Today, he returns to Lebanon not simply as the son of a renowned physician, but as a highly trained physician bringing his own knowledge, experience, and vision to the next chapter of Azoury IVF Clinic. His journey represents a meaningful connection between legacy and modern medicine, experience and new perspectives, and tradition and innovation.

Dr. Azoury has since returned to Lebanon to join Azoury IVF Clinic, continuing the legacy established by his father while contributing his own expertise to the advancement of fertility care in Lebanon. His international training, American Board certification, clinical experience, and dedication to evidence-based medicine make him a valuable asset to the Azoury IVF team.

He is particularly interested in providing evidence-based, patient-centered fertility treatment, combining his international training and clinical experience with the values, expertise, and legacy of his family’s practice. His presence at Azoury IVF Clinic reflects a commitment to excellence, continuity, and the future of reproductive medicine, bringing together decades of experience with a new generation of medical knowledge. Outside of medicine, Dr. Azoury enjoys playing the guitar, hiking, padel, swimming, running, and, most importantly, spending time with his family.
